We have been extremely blessed with great health in our home. It is indeed a rarity for any of us to be sick for any length of time. However lately, we have been battling sickness the last couple weeks. From the common cold to ear infections, we have now graduated to pink eye.
The other day my oldest daughter's eye was looking pretty red. After awhile, green goo began to seep from the irritated eye. Having four children has enabled us to self diagnose most ailments that arise in the Wood household. Thankfully, it is rare that we have to deal with illness. However, this time I knew the pink eye was not just going to go away without some type of input from us. First off we are a family that prays. We always lay hands on the sick and pray in Jesus name for healing (we have been healed by the Lord many times)! Therefore, we began with prayer. In addition, I looked online for natural remedies for pink eye. I was astounded to find a plethora of web pages touting all natural cures to rid this unwelcome ailment. The recommendation that continued to "stand out" to me on several websites was breast milk. We are blessed and fortunate to have an unlimited supply of that since my wife is still nursing our eight month old daughter.
My wife commenced to apply the breast milk to my daughter's eyes (you want to treat both eyes since this condition is very contagious) just yesterday morning. Whenever she was nursing our youngest, she made certain to put aside a little for the express purpose of applying it to the eyes of our oldest daughter. We have been amazed at the results. My oldest daughter's eye is almost completely healed. There is still just a bit of redness left. We expect her to wake up with the white of her eyes - well, white!
